RES summer school

18 undergraduate students from all over the United States attend a seven week long summer school on renewable energy in Iceland, coordinated by RES and the World Learning Study Abroad programme.

The summer school students are in Iceland from 18 June to 2 August, during which they study with leading engineers, physicists, and geologists, and visit major energy sites around the country. They also meet with politicians, industry leaders, and social activists to develop their understanding of how Iceland’s energy policy fits into the larger national agenda. Students spend their last two weeks in the remote West Fjords, applying concepts learned to village-scale energy problems.

RES Summer School started in 2007 in cooperation with World Learning SIT - Study Abroad Program of the School for International Training in Vermont, United States. SIT has a partnership agreement with over 200 universities in the United States and has been in operation for 75 years, offering study programs in over 50 countries.
