RES | The School for Renewable Energy Science was interested in sharing facilities, research and expertise with the private sector. Corporate sponsors value their image, wish to give something back to their community, as well as develop new innovative technologies. These values are in line with RES RESTARTED aims and objectives, therefore partnerships are bound to be successful. RES has already been fortunate to work with some large private corporations. Thus far this partnership has largely been with the automobile industry and energy production companies. Two students’ completed their thesis research at research laboratories of two large automobile corporations - Toyota Motor Europe in Brussels and Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. There was an interest from both sides to expand this cooperation in the near future. Together RES and its sponsors strove to make sure that students got all the support they deserved, both in the classrooms and in the research laboratories, as they worked on cutting edge science and technologies, and do renewable energy research that will benefit us all in the near future.
