Students at RES can seek student counseling services at the University of Akureyri. The service is intended to operate two complimentary objectives:
- To provide individuals and groups with counseling and guidance during their studies especially concerning improvements in study skills and techniques.
- To offer comprehensive personal counseling and advice to students concerning both their studies and private life.
The office hours of the Student Counselor are from 8:00 - 16:00 Monday through Friday. The office is situated at Solborg, on the ground floor. The walk-in hours of the Student Counseling Service are Monday through Friday from 13:30 to 14:30 during the University academic school year.

The Student Counselor at the University of Akureyri is Mrs. Solveig Hrafnsdóttir, M.Sc. in Counseling and Psychotherapy. The Student Counselor is fluent in Icelandic, Norwegian and English.
