The PL0460 Project is cooperation between RES and five leading technical universities in Poland which are funded by the EEA Financial Mechanism Grants.
The title of the PL0460 Project is: “Professional Partnership between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Iceland in the Utilization of Renewable Energy Resources: Graduate Education, Practical Training and Renewable Energy Research”.
The Polish universities are the following: Warsaw University of Technology (WUT; leading institution), AGH University of Science & Technology in Krakow, Rzeszow University of Technology, University of Warmia & Mazury in Olsztyn, and the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. The Program Coordinator is Prof. Tomasz Wisniewski at WUT.
The EEA Financial Mechanism Grant fully supports M.Sc. Degree studies at RES for 40 engineering students from five technical universities, over a two year period.
The RES Program graduated the first 13 Polish students on February 19, 2010. RES welcomed the remaining 27 Polish Candidates during the Inauguration Ceremony held on February 7, 2010. All these students were supported by the EEA grant and make up the majority of the RES class of 2011.
Another important aspect of the cooperation between RES and the five Polish Universities supported by the EEA Grant is the design and implementation of a new renewable energy graduate program at the Polish Universities. Here the idea is to use the experience at RES to suggest a more effective program structure and study content in higher education in Poland.
We at RES are working on establishing similar student support programs with other partner universities in Central and Eastern Europe.
