RES provides state-of-the-art teaching facilities and high quality student support services. Our classrooms are modern and equipped with the latest IT and instructional technologies, with fast internet connections. RES has also recently established a teaching Laboratory in Material Science in support of the M.Sc. Degree Program with both XRD and XRF analytical instruments, in addition to microscopes and sample preparation equipment.
Through our affiliation with University of Akureyri and University of Iceland (in Reykjavik) our M.Sc. degree students have access to research labs at both these universities while doing their
master thesis research. RES students also do their thesis research at leading Icelandic energy and engineering companies. Some students do their thesis research outside Iceland, and then in research
laboratories at one of our many partner universities, or energy/transportation companies (e.g. Ford Motor Company and Toyota Motor) in Europe and North-America.
Our students have access to all student support services of the University of Akureyri and become members of the University's Student Union. This includes access to the University Library and Cafeteria.
RES students stay in recently constructed, fully furnished, one or two bedroom apartments only 10 min. walk from the classrooms, the RES Administration Office, and the University of Akureyri Campus.
A number of sport and recreational facilities are also nearby. This includes large outdoor geothermal swimming pool; ski resort; health clubs and gyms; indoor and outdoor soccer fields; handball, basketball and volleyball courts; and a skating hall.
