RES is an international school focusing on renewable energy. The school was established in 2006 in Akureyri and is a private institution of higher learning that builds on Iceland’s experience in utilisation of renewable energy sources. The M.Sc. programme centres on this sound knowledge and expertise, which along with an acclaimed international faculty, ensures high standard and quality.

University of Iceland and RES have since the beginning been in close academic cooperation, as stipulated in a collaboration agreement, signed in 2007 between RES and University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri respectively, securing service and academic accreditation. By becoming one of the main shareholders of RES, University of Iceland is securing and manifesting this collaboration, as well as strengthening the future development of both academic institutions. University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri are jointly responsible for the academic quality and accreditation of the RES M.Sc. programme, and act as degree awarding bodies.
