Cooperation with Riga Technical University

RES and Riga Technical University, have signed a cooperation agreement focusing on research, student exchange and education in renewable energy science.



RES and Riga Technical University (RTU) have signed a formal cooperation agreement focusing in particular on student and staff exchange, as well as collaboration on specific research projects within renewable energy science. The agreement was signed by Ivars Knēts, Rector of RTU and Arnbjorn Olafsson, Director of RES International Office, in Riga on 8 October.

Riga Polytechnicum was first established in 1862 and was the first polytechnical institute in Imperial Russia. It offered degrees in agriculture, chemistry, engineering, mechanics, trade and architecture, with education in German language. Riga Polytechnical Institute was re-established in 1958 by splitting off the engineering departments from the State University of Latvia. In 1990, it was renamed to Riga Technical University.

RTU is an accredited, internationally recognized European level university offering high-class academic and professional study programmes. The student body in full and part-time studies is about 17000.
