Academic Coordinators - Dr. Thorsteinn Ingi Sigfusson

Dr. Thorsteinn I. Sigfusson is a Professor of physics at the Science Institute of the University of Iceland, and Coordinator of the Fuel Cell Systems & Technologies specialization at RES.He is also the Director General of Iceland’s Center of Innovation.

Dr. Sigfusson earned his Ph.D. in physics (1983) from University of Cambridge, England. He has been the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Science Institute of the University of Iceland and Chairman of the Research Council Board of Industry & Trade, as well as the Director of the Engineering Research Institute at the University of Iceland and Chairman of the Icelandic Research Council.

Other assignments include Chairman of Iceland New Energy Ltd., Co-Chairman of the Implementation and Liaison Committee of International Partnership for the Hydrogen Economy (IPHE), and Member of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy.

Dr. Sigfusson is a recipient of the 2007 Global Energy International Price presented by Russian President Putin on June 9th 2007 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
