The IT Centre (Gagnasmiðja) is service contact point for any computer or software related question. The IT Centre provides help and consultation regarding software and usage, e.g. both common software such as Office programs and various other specialized software.

The Computer System
The UNAK computer system is run on a Windows server. Each registered user of the university computer system can access the server from their own computer, as long as it is connected to the internet. In addition, the computer system can be accessed through FPT file transfer protocol by installing NetDrive software.
Wireless net
Sólborg Campus is equipped with a wireless system. Each user is responsible for acquiring their own wi-fi wireless network cards. The IT Centre can assist in setting up the computer for wireless use.
Data Storage
Each user is assigned 100mb of data storage space. Students are responsible for it and cannot lend it to another person. Please click here for further information on computer code of conduct.
Virus Protection
The University Computer System is protected with powerful anti-virus software which is updated daily. If students notice that their lap-tops are infected with viruses, they should contact the IT Service immediately.
Lap-top users are responsible for setting up anti-virus software. The system administrator can, if needed, disable students wireless access if he deems the lap-top infected. If this occurs, the student should contact the IT Centre for computer clean-up.
