RES | the School for Renewable Energy Science

RES Iceland offers an intensive and unique one year M.Sc. Program in Renewable Energy Science. Acclaimed international faculty ensures very high standard and quality.

RES will start its Executive School in the fall of 2010 by offering a number of 1-3 day individual courses on alternative energy options and strategies for executives and managers of international energy companies, large financial institutions, and environmental organizations.

The short courses will highlight the latest information on available alternative energy technologies and future R&D scenarios. This includes biofuel production and use of energy carriers; hybrid energy systems and smart energy networks; energy conversion, transport and storage; deep geothermal drilling and enhanced geothermal systems; pollution prevention technologies; and carbon capture and carbon sequestration methods.

Other set of courses deal with the latest trends in energy economics and renewable energy policies. This includes energy efficiency assessments in industrial processes, transportation and building design; life-cycle assessments; carbon taxation policies; energy forecastsand investment opportunities in the alternative energy sector; energy planning and management; impacts of climate change and future alternative energy scenariosanalysis.

The program also combines study tours in Iceland to renewable energy power plants and utilities, and research and energy organizations.

Some of the courses will also be offered on mainland Europe and North America, in cooperation with RES’s foreign partner institutions.
